Families

Family handbook

A short handbook describing the culture and everyday norms of Ozark Middle School.

Our community and belonging

Ozark is a place where every student is known and welcomed. New families are paired with a friendly guide, and Harbor Seminar advisories keep groups small so each learner has at least one trusted adult who knows them well.

Attendance philosophy

Showing up matters because relationships and learning are built day by day. Our approach leans on encouragement and partnership with families rather than penalties — the goal is simply to help students be present and ready to learn.

Respect and kindness

Students are encouraged to be curious, capable, and kind. The community agreement is simple: take care of yourself, take care of each other, and take care of this place. Disagreements are worked through with calm conversation and adult support.

Technology use

Devices are tools for creating and learning. Students are guided toward focused, respectful use during the day. See the Technology page for how the one-to-one program and Design Lab work.

Dress guidelines

Our dress guidance is gentle and practical: clothing that is comfortable, weather-ready, and respectful of the shared learning space. The spirit is welcoming rather than restrictive.

Getting help

Families and students who need anything are encouraged to start with their Harbor Seminar advisor or the wellness team. Asking for help is a strength, and our campus is built around making support easy to find.
