Noah T.

Grade 6

The cove is busier than it looks if you stay still enough.

Noah carries a battered pair of binoculars and a field guide soft at the corners, and he can name most of the birds that visit the quiet cove near campus. In the lake ecology club he helps log water clarity and counts the herons that stalk the shallows at dusk. Noah likes the patient kind of science, the sort that rewards sitting still and writing careful notes. With the service crew he plants native grasses along the shoreline, certain that small efforts add up over seasons. Thoughtful and a little shy, Noah opens up the moment a conversation turns to wildlife. Classmates trust him to spot the thing everyone else missed, whether it is a turtle on a log or a single new entry for the club's growing list.
