ART-810

Art Studio

An eighth-grade studio where artists work on bigger projects and begin to develop a personal style.

Grade 8SemesterElectiveArts pathway

Description

Art Studio gives experienced young artists room to deepen their skills and take on more ambitious work. Students explore drawing, painting, printmaking, and three-dimensional projects while developing their own ideas and themes. They keep a working sketchbook, revise across multiple drafts, and reflect on their artistic choices. The semester concludes with a curated exhibit of each student's strongest pieces.

What students learn

  • Develop original artwork around personal ideas and themes
  • Work confidently across two- and three-dimensional media
  • Apply advanced drawing, painting, and printmaking techniques
  • Use a sketchbook to plan, revise, and reflect on projects
  • Curate and present a body of work in a school exhibit

Signature project

Each student curates a themed body of work for an end-of-semester school art exhibit.
