Description

English Language Arts 6 helps students grow as readers, writers, speakers, and listeners across a full year of stories, articles, and poems. Students practice finding the main idea, supporting their thinking with evidence from a text, and writing clear paragraphs in their own words. Weekly discussions and short projects give everyone a chance to be heard and to learn from classmates.

What students learn

  • Identify central ideas and supporting details in fiction and nonfiction
  • Write organized paragraphs with a clear topic sentence and evidence
  • Use new vocabulary and context clues to understand unfamiliar words
  • Participate respectfully in small-group and whole-class discussions
  • Revise drafts after feedback to make writing clearer and stronger

Signature project

Students create a personal reading journal and present a favorite book recommendation to the class.
