Theatre and Speech

A lively semester where students build confidence on stage through acting games, scenes, and short speeches.

Grade 7SemesterElectiveArts pathway

Description

Theatre and Speech helps students find their voice through acting and public speaking. They warm up with improvisation and theatre games, then move into short scenes, monologues, and prepared talks. Along the way students learn projection, stage presence, and how to support a scene partner. The class is a supportive place to take creative risks and grow more comfortable in front of others.

What students learn

  • Use voice and body to communicate character and meaning on stage
  • Perform a short scene or monologue from memory
  • Apply improvisation skills to collaborate and think on the spot
  • Speak clearly and confidently when delivering a prepared talk
  • Give thoughtful, respectful feedback to fellow performers

Signature project

Students perform a set of short scenes and monologues at an informal class showcase.
